In 1992, Jupiter Studios formed in a basement in Manchester from the dreams of Jim Callahan. For 10 years, Jim played in bands, and the recording business was a natural progression

Without a dime to his name, a couple of credit cards and a vision, he started with a cassette recorder, a bathroom as a vocal booth, a 6 year old son named Ryan crawling up his leg, and a door laying on it’s side on two filing cabinets as a mixing desk.

The first professional studio was built Ellisville in 1994.  A 10 x 12 control room a 12 x 12 live room,   Jim built his clientele for 4 years creating sound tracks for industrial videos, recording Hip Hop artists, and producing singer-songwriter albums.

In 1997, Jim landed a job working at Trendmasters, a toy company. He wrote and recorded music for commercials, as well as doing sound design for toys.   He kept the basement studio running for 6 years while improving his skills, which in turn, built a larger clientele.

In 1998, Jim built a better studio, in a bigger facility, and bought his first Pro Tools system.  With 1200 square feet of working space and the cheapest Pro Tools rig in town, business boomed, and so did the customers. Jupiter Studios became recognized as the place to go for good quality recording, at cost effective rates.

In 2001, Jupiter moved the studio once again to what has become the new, trendy, Washington Avenue.  There on the 7th floor of the King Bee building, for the next four years, Jupiter became not only known as a great studio in St. Louis, it became nationally recognized.

Currently located at 3323 Locust, this facility was obtained in 2006 with the help of a lucrative real estate deal involving the MO Pac building. Through the profits from that deal, Jupiter Studios has grown into a million dollar dream facility now housing 2 first class recording rooms, graphic design, video, web, and CD duplication services.
